Hey folks!

Thank you so much to everyone that came out for the NYC Pride Parade! There was a stalled truck on Christopher street that backed the parade up and tagged an extra hour or two onto the ride. It was long but everyone was super awesome about it and showed the crowd a good time! And I want to especially thank everyone for their donations. We recognize that money is tight these days and we appreciate you helping to support DOB-C in their efforts to bring NYC’s queer ladies together on two wheels.

Now is the time to start collecting pictures! If you took pictures please send them our way or direct us to your online photo album!

We’re going to collect as many images as possible and upload to our facebook and to here.

Follow this link to one of the first of many albums to come!

Thanks again!! Keep ya posted on upcoming rides!

FOX News Road Rage

Don Broderick apparently didn’t appreciate having to share the road with cyclist, Brian Dooda, while driving through Central Park.  HIs rationale led him to cut Dooda off.  When Dooda caught up with Broderick at the light he took his place in front of the car and told him to adhere to the 25 mph speed limit through the park.  Broderick didn’t like that and his logic told him the right thing to do was to ram into Dooda’s bike and drag him on the hood of his car for 200 feet and then drive away.

Brian Dooda

When police showed up Dooda joked, “I wonder if he’s from Fox News, because he was such an asshole.”  Turns out he is.  Broderick is a Fox News writer with a history of anger management issues.  He punched a fellow Fox news employee ten years ago and was reported to have verbally assaulted a PA recently and forced to take anger management classes.

Broderick was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident which could lead to a year in jail.  Somehow I get the feeling this guy is going to get away scott free.

A few month agos we did a post on the light lane, a conceptual light that creates a bike lane around your bike.  Apparently the idea was such a success with bikers that it is now going into production.

Safety is always an issues for bikers. Its more of a problem in urban setting where car congestion is always present.
I’ve had to swerve around my share of double-parked cars and veer away from cars that get too close to me in bike lanes (given that the lanes exist to being with).

Eco-friend brings us a concept that’s both practical and eco-friendly. Similar to the self-generated bike light, light lane, eco-friend conceptualized a self-powered bike barrier to let cars know when they’re too close or vice versa.
